Caged compounds
Caged compounds are biomolecules whose activity can be modulated and controlled by light. The biomolecule is temporarily inactivated by being bound to a photolabile chemical group (a 'cage'). The application of light (visible or infra-red) removes this cage and enables the biologically active molecule to be released (photoreleased). These light-sensitive probes offer an enhanced way of controlling the timing and location of administration of these compounds and subsequent activation or inhibition of their biological target. Researchers can save up to 50% on caged compounds from Hello Bio - they are up to half the price of other suppliers.
