Calmodulin
Calmodulin is a ubiquitous calcium-binding protein that plays a critical role in intracellular calcium signaling and regulation of neuronal activity in the brain. Calmodulin binds to calcium ions, undergoes conformational changes, and interacts with numerous target proteins, modulating their activity and influencing a wide range of physiological processes in neurons, including synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter release, and gene expression, making it a key player in neuronal function and plasticity in the brain.
