Calretinin
Calretinin is a calcium-binding protein that is widely distributed in the CNS, where it is predominantly expressed in specific types of inhibitory interneurons. Calretinin-expressing interneurons are involved in the regulation of neural circuit activity and have been implicated in various brain functions, including modulation of synaptic transmission, maintenance of excitatory-inhibitory balance, and regulation of network oscillations, playing a crucial role in the overall functioning of the brain.
