Glutamate uptake & transport
Glutamate transport is mediated by a family of transmembrane proteins known as glutamate transporters, or excitatory amino acid transporters (EAATs). EAATs are sodium- and potassium-dependent members of the Solute Carrier Family 1 (SLC1).
