Chaperone supports the Hello Bio Early Career Scientist Grant initiative

We’re delighted to announce that we’re joining forces with the fantastic team at Chaperone to offer even more support for early career life scientists! As part of our monthly Early Career Scientist Grant award package, our winners will take home a $500 grant that they can spend on anything to support their research & career, including career development services at Chaperone, benefiting from a 5% discount on their first three career development sessions booked with Chaperone.

Chaperone is an online platform created to empower scientists and academics in their careers by connecting them with career consultants around the world. Through this platform, scientists can browse and book online 1-to-1 sessions with over 35 experienced career consultants (career specialists, advisors, counsellors and coaches) on over 50 different support topics. In addition to online 1-to-1 sessions, Chaperone also provides online group training in the format of workshops or webinars. We’re delighted that the team at Chaperone are generously gifting a 5% discount voucher to every future winner of our support grant in order for them to access valuable career advice at a reduced rate.

The Hello Bio Early Career Scientist Grant is a support fund of $500 awarded monthly to a life science PhD or postdoc to help with their career. Over the last two years we have helped 20 lucky recipients who have used the money for conference travel costs, event registration fees, publication costs, purchasing of lab supplies and much more!

Pedro Resende, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Chaperone explained why he and the team were keen to get involved:

“I see Hello Bio and Chaperone 100% aligned in the concept of democratising access to high-quality resources in science. In the case of Hello Bio, a diversity of affordable reagents that allow scientists to carry out their experiments. At Chaperone, a diversity of specialised career consultants that allow scientists to access career development support. Our paths crossed naturally, and so our partnership emerged. The fact that Hello Bio has a very clear social mission was critical. I personally feel very happy for this partnership, and can only hope that many scientists take advantage of it!” - Pedro Resende

Sam Roome, Co-Founder and Marketing Director at Hello Bio said of the new partnership:

“At Hello Bio we are committed to supporting early career life scientists through not only our monthly grant and affordable products, but also our ever-growing library of valuable career resources, advice guides and inspiring interviews. Chaperone shares our desire to help scientists forge successful careers, so we were delighted to form a partnership with them which we hope will prove extremely useful for our future ECS grant winners.” - Sam Roome
