Ro 25-6981 maleate is a selective negative allosteric modulator (NAM) of GluN2B (NR2B) containing NMDARs.

Ro 25-6981 maleate exhibits >5000-fold selectivity at GluN1C-GluN2B over GluN1C-GluN2A (IC50 values are 9 nM and 52 µM). Ro 25-6981 maleate shows neuroprotective properties.
