Biological description NMDA receptor agonist. Also inhibits norepinephrine-dependent melatonin synthesis. Displays similar activity to L-aspartic acid. Also acts as an endogenous neurotransmitter. Plays role in testosterone and luteinising hormone synthesis and release.
