Overview

This protease inhibitor cocktail contains a mixture of protease inhibitors with broad specificity for various proteases. It is optimized for use in plant cell and tissue extracts.

This cocktail is also EDTA free.

Protease inhibitor cocktails protect proteins from degradation by endogenous proteases released during protein extraction and purification.

Components and action

The following components are included in this cocktail which target the major classes of proteases including aspartic, serine, cysteine, metalloproteases and aminopeptidases.

  • AEBSF hydrochloride serine protease inhibitor (200mM)
  • Bestatin: aminopeptidase B and leucine aminopeptidase inhibitor (10mM)
  • E-64: cysteine protease inhibitor (3mM)
  • Leupeptin hemisulfate: serine/cysteine protease inhibitor (2mM)
  • 1,10-Phenanthroline: metalloprotease inhibitor (500mM)
  • Pepstatin A: aspartic protease inhibitor (2mM)

Formulation & usage recommendation

The cocktail is supplied as a 1ml solution in DMSO.

1mL is recommended for the inhibition of proteases extracted from ~30g of plant tissue in a total volume of 100 ml.
