Vishwadeep Mane is nominated in the Lab Heroes Awards - TM
Vishwadeep Mane, Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India
"I am pleased to nominate Vishwadeep, a dedicated graduate student in Prof Utpal Nath's laboratory, for the well-deserved recognition of Lab Hero. He happens to be academically junior to me in the lab. Having witnessed his outstanding contributions and positive impact on our lab culture, I believe Vishwadeep exemplifies the qualities that make him a true asset to our academic community.
Vishwadeep has demonstrated exceptional leadership by seamlessly taking over a substantial project led by a PostDoc during maternity leave. Despite not having a background in plant biology, his ability to advance this project with impressive dedication and efficiency stands out. His commitment to overcoming challenges and driving research forward reflects his resilience and adaptability.
Beyond his contributions, Vishwadeep has actively fostered global collaborations, independently advancing his research and establishing valuable alliances for our lab. His approachability and willingness to share knowledge have created a conducive learning environment. Vishwadeep has generously assisted colleagues and trainees in mastering new techniques acquired through his interdisciplinary project, inspiring a collective pursuit of knowledge within the lab.
One of Vishwadeep's notable qualities is his advocacy for embracing recent technologies, including data analysis and representation software. His encouragement has motivated lab members to stay updated and proficient in these essential tools, enhancing our collective research capabilities.
More than a colleague, Vishwadeep has been a source of support and inspiration, particularly in the challenging journey of a Ph.D. His emphasis on mutual support and uplifting spirits has significantly contributed to the lab's positive and collaborative atmosphere. In the demanding times that define a PhD, Vishwadeep's empathy and efforts to create a homely environment have made our shared experiences as a lab invaluable.
His commitment to uplifting the lab culture is evident in his teachings of a collaborative spirit and looking out for one another. Vishwadeep's absence is keenly felt in the lab, underscoring his significant role in making our communal space feel like a supportive home away from home.
Most importantly, being from the LGBT+ community, Vishwadeep has helped us understand the problems and necessity for equal representation in academia. This has enabled us to grow at a personal level very much.
Vishwadeep's exceptional contributions, leadership, and commitment to fostering a positive lab culture make him an ideal candidate for the Lab Hero recognition. I wholeheartedly endorse his nomination, confident that his impact will resonate within our lab and our academic community."
