"A very worthy candidate for the Lab Hero Award is my PI, Dr. Tanveer Ahmad. We all count ourselves fortunate to have him in our lives; he is an incredible PI and a true hero of his lab. Certainly, he has a big heart and a broad mindset, which makes him a rare combination.

The research lab environment is often serious and stressful, yet this pretty cool scientist stands out as a beacon of support and inspiration. His leadership style transcends the typical supervisor role, encompassing warmth, empathy, and an unwavering dedication to the well-being of everyone in the lab. And whenever we lose hope, he gives us a new lease on life.

He takes a genuine interest in each individual, from lab technicians and students to the housekeeping staff, meticulously understanding their personalities and offering tailored support. Dr. Ahmad goes above and beyond to ensure the lab has all the necessary resources, even providing travel support to his students. He dedicates precious time to each member, regardless of workload, always offering a listening ear and a helping hand.

Dr. Ahmad's influence has profoundly impacted my career. As a result, I am more willing to take risks and embrace challenges because of his influence. His dose of encouragement makes me think beyond research and consider how my work can contribute to the greater good. His presence fills the lab with positivity and good vibes, transforming the workplace into a haven of collaboration and shared aspirations.

Beyond the daily grind, Dr. Ahmad believes in celebrating achievements and thus encourages lab-wide parties and outings, fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging. His satisfaction with achievements is greater than ours because he acknowledged small victories and celebrated them. And, to the astonishment of some, he offers coffee, plays cricket with his students, and shares his collection of books.

Dr. Ahmad is more than just a supervisor; he is a mentor, a labmate, a friend, and a role model for those young minds aspiring to become scientists.

For all these reasons, it’s my privilege to nominate Dr. Tanveer Ahmad as my lab's real hero. He serves as a reminder that true leadership is not about wielding power but empowering others to reach their full potential."
