Paradeisios Alexandros Boulakis, Physiology of Cognition, University of Liège, Belgium
"Paradeisios is a true hero of our lab. He is involved in almost all the projects ongoing in our lab actively. He is supportive, fast, and always accessible as well as being passionate to learning. That's why we can rely on him about any kind of problem we have. At the same time he is an outgoing person and organizes all the social events in our lab. I think any lab needs a member like Paradeisios in their team."
Nominated by Sepehr Mortaheb, Physiology of Cognition, University of Liege, Belgium
"As lab PI, I can tell with no exaggeration that Paris is a foundational member. Even in his second year of his PhD, Paris has managed to save the day for projects for all of us. His coding and technical skills especially have assisted our lab lives to the point that he truly our hero. Quick, precise, inquisitive, tireless, authentic, and always smiling Paris’ has taken our lab’s quality to a higher level: our gitlab wiki is tidy and updated, he organizes and delivers to us top educational seminars, and books rooms like a fairy before we think to ask him;) And as a hero, he is always available and ready to solve issues with the warmest and funniest attitude. A true inspiration. Thank you, Paris!"
Nominated by Athena Demertzi, University of Liège, Belgium
"Making your way in research is no easy task. It takes resilience, passion and commitment. But Paradeisios has more than that. On top of being a skilled researcher, he is also a gentle soul that will make everyone feel at home, he's always willing to lend a helping hand and help you find solutions for your issues. He's making a safe space for people to learn and grow, and he brightens up the mood when things are not going as planned. He is the lab hero that we need, and hopefully also the one we deserve."
Nominated by Daphne Chylinski, Physiology of Cognition, GIGA CRC - In Vivo Imaging, Belgium
"Paris is indeed a hero for me. He's the most supportive, helpful and perspicacious person I have ever met. He's always there when you need him. His contribution to our lab is indescribable. It is a pleasure working with a person who has excellent problem solving skills. I personally admire him for his work and his passion about what he's doing. Our lab relies on him and his interpersonal skills to create a great atmosphere between us."
Nominated by Stefania Zoi, CRC GIGA in Vivo Imaging-Physiology of Cognition , ULiege , Belgium
"Paris makes us understand the value of being proud in any of our tiniest achievements. He does not take anything for granted and is the first to help and support both morally and technically us in our projects so that we are moving forward in a structured and cheerful manner. He is a PhD student in a lab that is only a few years old and his contribution has been foundational to our growth. It is in the same spirit that the one he brings on a daily basis that we are celebrating him with this nomination. As he is hoping the best for us and shows it by his commitment and effort he puts to bring development to the lab, we are hoping the best for his scientific and professional development in science and are happy to support him as our lab hero."
Nominated by Matthieu Koroma, Physiology of Cognition, University of Liège, Belgium
"Paris is passionate, driven, and consistent. There is no mystery as to how he will be from one day to the next. As such, he has quickly cemented himself as a rock, a foundation at the very core of our lab. Everyone knows they can rely on him for almost anything, especially for help with technical issues. Much like a tree in the wind that bends, but never breaks; Paris remains steadfast against any challenge. If there is something he does not know, he makes it a personal mission to figure out what that missing piece is and claim it. This allows him to excel at leading seminars on diverse research topics within our lab and solve our most pressing issues. However, the most admirable aspect about him, I believe, is his ability to know that he can always be better than he was the day before. Not only does he carry about him a deep amount of insightfulness, but he is able to pair that with meaningful and effortful action to create change within and around him. In conclusion, there is no one I believe to be more deserving of such an honor."
Nominated by Larry Fort, Physiology of Cognition, University of Liège, Belgium
"Paris is great. He is always helping everyone in the lab and is involved in almost all current projects. He has a great disposition and is very knowledgeable, as well as trustable. Paris is friendly and approachable, he organizes the lab tutorials and lab social events, among many others. You can speak about everything, from technical discussions to philosophy, or just life, making him a great partner to share a few beers with, after a week of hard work. It is amazing how he can manage all these things together while still being fast and passionate about his own research. Paris is certainly our Lab hero!"
