"Throughout the entire pandemic and recovery Bettina has gone above and beyond to keep the lab up and running. Juggling her own schedule as well as 20 of our schedules, she has been the mom our students needed when cut-off from home, the repair-woman, and the resource procurement wizard as shipping and inventories were in chaos. She kept us on budget and on time when culture medium was on back-log, as energy costs sky-rocketed, and there seemed no way to get a shipment of cells on dry ice through customs before the dry ice was gone. Part-biologist, part-superwoman, her precision, commitment, and organization have held us together. And she is a great teacher to instill these qualities in all the scientists she works with, from visiting high-school students to post-docs. Through good and bad, taking on new tasks and always lending a helping hand, we wouldn’t have been able to keep publishing and re-open without her. That is why Bettina is our Lab Hero!"
