Carolina Baró-Graf is nominated in the Lab Heroes Awards 2021
Carolina Baró-Graf, Cellular Signaling Cascades, Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Rosario, Argentina
"Caro is a PhD student who started working in the lab when I was halfway through my own PhD in sperm physiology. From day one she’s brought with her a fantastic work ethic. Because she was reluctant to use animal models, she insisted on working with human samples when nobody else in the lab was doing it. Now the lab can do clinical-targeted research thanks to her (healthy) stubbornness and principles!
She is a true believer of team-work and would always help her lab partners with any experiments. As she gained more experience, she constantly trained newcomers and does so with extreme patience and pedagogy. Even though for the last year she’s also been a full-time mother, she manages the time to coordinate as many meetings as needed to teach the new students about any methodology or to discuss results with them, even when she’s not their direct mentor. She’s definitely one of my favourite lab heroes!"
